Dr. V. Vijay Kumar, Jt. Director, presently Director-in-Charge, is a Ph.D. in Biosciences from Saurashtra University, Rajkot and has an experience of 24 years in the field of wetland ecology, herpetology, wildlife conservation and management, grassland and saline land restoration/reclamation. He has research experience in Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun and teaching experience in Saurashtra University, Rajkot. He has brought out about 50 research publications and scientific reports. He is a member of IUCN commission on Ecosystem Management, IUCN/Species Survival Commission (SSC) - Crocodile Specialist Group, and Fauna and Flora Preservation Society (FFPS), London, U.K. He is actively associated with different academic committees of national and state level institutions.

 

Dr. Dr. S. F. Wesley Sunderraj, Scientist (Wildlife Ecology) is a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat. Before joining GUIDE, he was associated with many research projects at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. He has 25 years of research career on different disciplines of Ecology, especially on Wildlife Ecology. His areas of specializations are Conservation biology (Threatened mammals and overall biodiversity conservation) and Restoration ecology. He has also developed his expertise in the field of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) on industrial and linear development projects and carried out 19 EIA studies at state and national levels. He has so far published 21 scientific papers and 48 technical reports and participated in several research seminars/workshops and conferences at state, national and international levels. He is a Member of IUCN Sea Turtle Specialist Group.

 

Dr. G. A. Thivakaran, Scientist (Marine Biology), has M. Sc, M. Phil and Ph.D. in Marine Biology from Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu and has a research experience of 27 years in the fields of marine biodiversity, coastal aquaculture and EIA & EMP on development projects in coastal environment. Before joining GUIDE he has served at Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology & Natural History, Coimbatore and Tamil University, Thanjavur. He has published 24 research papers and 25 technical reports. He has undergone training on marine ecology at Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory Massachusetts, USA.

 

Dr. Pankaj N. Joshi, Junior Scientist (Plant Taxonomy) has a Ph. D in Plant Science (Ecology, Taxonomy and Conservation) from Bhavnagar University, Gujarat and has a research experience of 10 years in the fields of plant taxonomy, rare and endangered plants, ethnobotany, biodiversity, grassland restoration, saline land reclamation and Environment Impact Assessment. He has published around 12 research papers many technical reports. He is the registered member of IUCN – SSC (ISPSG); and Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy.

 

B. Anjan Kumar Prusty, Junior Scientist (Environment) holds M. Sc & M. Phil in Environmental Sciences from Sambalpur University, Orissa, and Ph. D from Bharathiar University (Salim Ali Center for Ornithology and Natural History- SACON), Coimbatore. He has 9 years of working experience and has been associated with Sambalpur University, Orissa; Orissa University of Agricultural Technology (College of Agricultural Sciences, Chipillima); and Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology & Natural History (SACON), Coimbatore. His areas of interests include Environmental Monitoring and Impact Assessment, Environmental Bio-Geochemistry, Wetlands, Limnology, Trace metal speciation and Environmental Health Implications. Presently he has 27 research papers to his credit in journals of repute, 16 abstracts in national and international conference proceedings, 6 chapters in edited books and also 9 research reports. Currently he is a visiting faculty to the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, KSKV Kachchh University, Bhuj, involved in the post graduate teaching programme (Environmental Sciences) and has been guiding Post Graduate student researches. He has attended workshops on (i) Chemical Speciation of Trace Metals and Biotic Ligand Modeling at Peking University, Beijing, China and (ii) Chronobiology at CCS University, Meerut, India; and undergone a training program on Instrumental Techniques at National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, India.
